The 10-Second Pre-Buy Checklist That Saves You From Being the Exit Liquidity

A blunt, repeatable pre-buy checklist for memecoin traders who want to survive long enough to actually learn.

Stop Buying on Vibes Alone

Let's be honest. Most memecoin losses don't come from picking the wrong coin. They come from skipping the two minutes of checks that would have told you the coin was already dead on arrival. You saw a green candle, a hype name, and a KOL tweet, and you aped in. Then you watched the chart bleed out while the deployer moved tokens to a fresh wallet.

This is the lesson. Build a checklist you actually run before every single buy. Not a 40-point audit. Not a research paper. A 10-second pre-buy checklist that catches the most common ways you get rugged, dumped, or just plain outplayed. If it doesn't pass, you don't buy. Simple as that.

The Checklist: Five Questions, Ten Seconds

Here is the core list. Write it down. Memorize it. Run it every time, even on the "sure thing" your friend just sent you. Especially on that one.

1. Is the Liquidity Real?

Check the liquidity pool on GMGN. You want to see a number that is not embarrassing, and you want to see it locked or burned. If the LP is unlocked and the deployer holds a large chunk, you are not an investor. You are a guest at a buffet where the chef owns the kitchen and can close it at any moment.

Look for:

  • LP locked or burned (check the contract info on GMGN)
  • A liquidity amount that can actually absorb a buy without 5% slippage
  • No sudden, unexplained liquidity additions that smell like a trap

2. Who Holds the Supply?

The top holder concentration is your first red flag detector. If one wallet holds 20% or more, that person can dump on you at will. If the top 10 holders control over 50%, the whole thing is a house of cards. On GMGN, the holder distribution is right there. Look at it.

The rule: If you can't stomach the top holder's potential exit, you don't enter. You are not early. You are the exit liquidity they are waiting for.

3. Is the Contract Safe?

You don't need to be a Solidity wizard. You need to know if the contract has obvious red flags. On GMGN, the security scan shows you if the contract is mintable, if there are hidden fees, or if there is a blacklist function. A mint function means the supply can be inflated at any time. A blacklist means the deployer can freeze you out of selling.

If the contract has a mint function and the deployer has not renounced ownership, walk away. There is no trade setup worth that risk. There is no narrative worth that risk.

4. Does the Chart Tell a Healthy Story?

Pull up the chart on GMGN. Look at the volume and the price action over the last hour, not the last 5 minutes. A healthy coin shows steady accumulation and organic volume. A dying coin shows spikes followed by long dumps, or a flat line with no volume at all.

Ask yourself:

  • Is the volume real, or is it just one whale washing the same coins back and forth?
  • Is the price making higher lows, or is it bleeding out step by step?
  • Are there suspicious dumps right after every green candle?

5. Why Are You Buying This?

This is the hardest question. Be brutally honest. Are you buying because you did research and see an edge? Or are you buying because you are scared of missing out? FOMO is a cost, not a strategy. If your only reason is "it's pumping," you are already late. The pump is the reason someone else is selling to you.

If you cannot articulate a reason that is not "it's going up," skip it. There are thousands of coins. The one you miss is never the one that makes you. The one you ape into without a reason is often the one that breaks you.

Make It a Habit, Not a Suggestion

A checklist only works if you actually run it. So make it painful to skip. Put it as a note on your phone. Keep it open in a tab. Before you click buy on GMGN, force yourself to verbally answer all five questions. If you hesitate on any of them, you don't buy. That hesitation is your brain telling you something important.

Also, tie your checklist to your alerts. When you see a price surge alert from the BH GMGN SOLANA or BH GMGN BASE groups, don't jump straight to the buy button. Run the checklist first. The alert is a starting point for research, not a signal to ape. The same goes for any KOL call or trending list. The checklist is the filter between the noise and your wallet.

The Hard Truth About Memecoins

Most memecoins go to zero. That is not a prediction. That is a fact of the market. You are playing a game where the house has better information, faster bots, and no emotional attachment. Your only edge is discipline. A checklist is how you enforce discipline when your emotions are screaming at you to click buy.

You will still lose. Everyone does. But you will lose small, learn, and survive to take the next trade. The guys who skip the checklist lose everything and quit. The guys who run it every time are the ones who are still around to talk about it. Be the second guy.

Your Next Step

Build your checklist. Make it your own. Add your own questions if you need to. The five above are the minimum, not the maximum. If you want to go deeper, our reference guide on metrics breaks down the numbers you should care about. And if you want to see how the alerts work, check the alerts page. But first, just commit to the habit. Run the checklist on every single trade, no exceptions.

Your future self, the one with a positive PnL, will thank you.

The checklist is not about finding the next 100x. It is about not being the exit liquidity for the last one.
