Bundle Detection: How to Spot a Coordinated Launch Before You Buy

A bundled launch hides its supply in plain sight. Here is how to read the wallets, timing, and funding trails before you ap.

The Launch That Looks Perfect

You find a fresh token. Chart looks clean, liquidity is locked, socials are popping, and the first candles are green. You buy. Ten minutes later, the floor evaporates as a dozen wallets dump in perfect sequence.

That was a bundle. Not bad luck. A setup.

A bundle is a coordinated launch where one operator (or a small group) controls a large chunk of supply across many wallets, often bought in the same block or the same few seconds. The point is to make the token look organic — many holders, healthy distribution, real demand — when it is actually one hand holding the bag and ready to drop it on you.

This is an Advanced topic because the tell is rarely one signal. It is a pattern of signals that only makes sense together.

The Three Fingerprints of a Bundle

Most bundles leave the same three traces. Learn them and you stop getting ambushed.

  • Timing clusters. Dozens of buys land in the same block or within the same 1–3 second window at launch. Real buyers trickle in. Bundles arrive in formation.
  • Funding trails. The wallets were fed from the same source wallet, the same exchange withdrawal, or a chain of hops that all trace back to one address. Follow the money before the buy.
  • Uniform sizing. Near-identical buy amounts across many fresh wallets is not community FOMO. It is a script.

Any one of these can be innocent. All three together is a coordinated launch, and you are the exit liquidity.

How to Actually Check

You do not need to be a blockchain analyst. You need a routine you run every single time before you buy a new launch.

Start with the buy timeline. On GMGN, open the token and look at the earliest transactions. Ask: how many buys happened in the first block? If the launch block contains 20, 40, 60 wallets, you are looking at a bundle until proven otherwise.

Then check holder concentration against holder count. A token with 800 holders sounds great until you notice the top 10 wallets hold 60% of supply and all bought in the same second. Holder count is a vanity metric. Distribution is the real one. Our breakdown of these numbers lives at /v2/dyor/reference.html#metrics.

Next, trace the funding. Pick three of the biggest early wallets and look at where their SOL came from. Same source? Same timestamp? Same exchange withdrawal pattern? That is your answer.

Finally, watch the sell side before you are in it. Bundled wallets often hold, not sell, early on — they want the chart to run. The danger window is the first real pump. That is when coordinated wallets begin peeling out in size.

What Good Distribution Looks Like

To spot a bundle, you need a baseline for normal. A healthier launch usually shows:

  • Buys spread across minutes, not blocks.
  • No single source wallet funding a large share of early buyers.
  • Top holders with different entry prices and different sizes.
  • Organic sell pressure — some early flips, not a synchronized wall.

None of this makes a token safe. Most memecoins go to zero. Good distribution just means the rug is less likely to be pre-planned. You are still trading something extremely high risk.

The Bundle Checklist

Before you ap, run this list. If two or more boxes are ticked, walk away or size down hard.

  • 15+ buys in the launch block or first few seconds.
  • Top 10 wallets hold a large share of supply.
  • Multiple early wallets funded from one source.
  • Near-identical buy sizes across fresh wallets.
  • No organic sell activity after the first leg up.

This is not paranoia. It is the difference between trading and being farmed.

Where to Watch It Live

Bundles form fast, and by the time a token trends, the setup is already done. Watching fresh launches and wallet clusters in real time is how you catch the pattern early. Our SOL cluster and fresh-buy feeds are built for exactly this — see /v2/dyor/reference.html#alerts.

The core discipline is simple: verify before you buy, not after. Every chart you check, check on GMGN — start at gmgn.uk and the mirror at gmgn.fr if you need it.

Trade the Pattern, Not the Hype

Bundle detection is not about avoiding every risky launch. Almost every memecoin launch is risky. It is about refusing to be the exit liquidity for someone else's coordinated plan.

Read the wallets. Read the timing. Read the funding. If the launch was engineered, you will see the seams — and you can decide with open eyes instead of hope.
